Gusto Cycles is now merged with BikeStreet USA!

Picture
Gusto Cycles, an independent bicycle shop located between Greenville and Greer announces its merger with BikeStreet USA, a startup retail chain based out of Florida.

Gusto Cycles has been located on Wade Hampton since it opened as Pedals Plus in the early 1990s.  Steve Gust, an avid bicyclist and community supporter, purchased the shop in 2000 to continue its service to families and riders of Greenville.  Steve, who passed away suddenly in 2011, worked as a product developer/research engineer at Mitsubishi Polyester Film, just down the street from the bike shop.  He was passionate about helping people of all ages enjoy bicycling.  After his death many riders feared they would lose the personalized services of Gusto.

However, Beth Coe, who has many years of experience in the Greenville bicycle community, teamed up with Margie Gust and the employees to not only continue the tradition of service to customers, but to grow an even better shop to contribute to the sport.

The merger with experienced cyclist enthusiasts at BikeStreet USA accomplishes the goal of growing cycling at our local level while sharing the wealth of knowledge and products with a group also dedicated to maintaining established local shops.

BikeStreet USA's mission is to keep people who still want to be engaged in running their own shop and are committed to deep community involvement, but also in being part of something bigger, sharing experiences and resources in the marketplace.

Avid bicyclist and marketing advertising executive Pat Patregnani believed he could make a difference in the growth of cycling by acquiring established locations and adding capital to help them grow.  Thus, he started BikeStreet USA and began expanding the local shop concept.

Beth Coe, manager of Gusto Cycles/BikeStreet USA hopes to continue the Gusto tradition of serving every type of bicycle rider while gaining better buying power, margins and expertise for the Greenville/Greer community.  Beth's enthusiasm for cycling and healthy sport will help anchor this new retail partnership.
